約翰洛克寫(xie) 作競賽（John Locke Essay Competition）從(cong) 極富趣味性和挑戰力的寫(xie) 作題目出發，旨在培養(yang) 參賽者的議論文寫(xie) 作能力，考察參賽者對於(yu) 不同學科領域獨立深刻的見解、廣博的認知、清晰的說理能力、批判性地分析思維能力和說服力。鼓勵年輕人培養(yang) 將好學生變成偉(wei) 大作家的特質：獨立思考、知識深度、推理清晰、批判性分析和說服力。征文比賽邀請學生探索學校課程範圍之外的各種具有挑戰性和有趣的問題。

參加John Locke寫(xie) 作競賽可以積累知識，提高論證技巧。評委們(men) 將從(cong) 七個(ge) 學科類別中的每一個(ge) 類別中選出他們(men) 最喜歡的文章，以及一個(ge) 適合15歲以下兒(er) 童的低年級組別，還會(hui) 從(cong) 哲學、政治、經濟學、曆史、心理學、神學和法律這七個(ge) 學科中選出一篇“最佳論文”。此前參賽者被牛津、劍橋、普林斯頓、哈佛、耶魯、斯坦福、芝加哥、加州伯克利等名校錄取。

高年級組設置7個(ge) 話題，分別是：

06John Locke獎項設置

每個(ge) 學科類別的獲獎者將獲得價(jia) 值2000美元的獎學金，可用於(yu) 支付John Locke的課程費用，論文將在學院網站上發布。最佳論文的候選人將獲得John Locke Institute Junior Fellowship，附帶10,000美元的獎學金，用於(yu) 參加John Locke的課程。

01 John Locke競賽備考方案

一篇好的議論文應該遵循這樣的結構：

• 概述討論主題以及與論點相關的背景信息。
