約翰·洛克論文競賽(John Locke Essay Competition)是由英國牛津的獨立教育機構John Locke Institute聯合牛津大學、普林斯頓大學、布朗大學等世界頂尖學府教授共同舉(ju) 辦的學術寫(xie) 作賽事。這項被譽為(wei) "人文社科領域含金量最高的中學生競賽"每年吸引全球數千名高中生參與(yu) 角逐。
賽事通過哲學、政治、經濟等七大核心學科領域的命題寫(xie) 作,係統考察參賽者的學科知識體(ti) 係構建能力、學術議論文寫(xie) 作規範、獨立思辨能力及邏輯論證水平。值得注意的是,這些能力維度與(yu) 大學申請文書(shu) 中展現的核心素質高度契合。

競賽形式
Essay competition共設有七大學科主題,分別為(wei) 哲學、政治、經濟、曆史、法律、心理和神學,對於(yu) Senior組,每個(ge) 主題設置3道提問;而低年級組則不細分主題,提供6個(ge) 具體(ti) 的寫(xie) 作題目。
參賽者必須在截止日期前提交一篇2000字以下的命題論文(不包括圖表、數據表、尾注、參考書(shu) 目或作者聲明);也可以提交多篇文章,即一個(ge) 題目對應一篇文章。

無國籍限製,無學校限製,均可參賽
Junior組年齡要求:年滿14周歲或以下
Senior組年齡要求:年滿18周歲或以下

獎項設置
最高獎項Grand Prize,外加七個(ge) 學術組別和junior組別的Winner、Second Prize、Third Prize,共計25個(ge) 大獎,大獎獲獎率為(wei) 0.07%左右。
“Very High Commendation”的獲獎率約為(wei) 1%;“High Commendation”的獲獎率預估為(wei) 5%左右,兩(liang) 個(ge) 獎的含金量都很高。
“Commendation/Merit”獎項獲獎率預估為(wei) 10%,體(ti) 現了參賽者紮實的學術寫(xie) 作能力和不俗的學術實力。
