iGEM Ambassadors Goals

Recruit potential teams and expand the local iGEM communities

iGEM Ambassadors focus on recruiting teams and promoting iGEM and Synthetic Biology in their regions through talks, conferences, events, meetings with stakeholders. They work on creating a strong local synthetic biology ecosystem that will support teams and iGEMers on the path to accomplishing greatness.

Connect with alumni and help improve the iGEM Community

Find, connect with, and excite past iGEMers from your region to create a vibrant and supportive iGEM community. We hope iGEMers share their stories and achievements, and also continue their passion for SynBio through participation in iGEM Community and our activities.

Interface for teams and voice for their regional iGEM communities

Provide feedback based on their interaction with regional iGEM teams, and guide these teams into different channels of communication with iGEM HQ. iGEM Ambassador's voice over the needs and challenges of their regions, providing insights that can help iGEM improve the competition experience

Promote or help to create an iGEM League in their region

TheiGEM Leaguesare local and regional competitions designed to enable more local people to learn and apply synbio around the world. Each region has its own specific challenges when it comes to building their local synbio ecosystems, and the Leagues are a way for local iGEMers to design competitions that will contribute to overcoming these challenges.

Position & Details

iGEM Ambassadors are expected to work on representing and expanding iGEM in different regions, independently developing their activities targeted towards the Program goals.

Expectations & Responsibilities

■Keep track of metrics regularly and update your progress

■Frequent checking and communication on Slack and/or email

■Provide regular regional updates and a year-end report summarizing your experiences, achievements, learnings, and impact

■Estimated time commitment: 5 - 10 hours/week (flexible working hours)

Who can apply?

■Any iGEMer with previous iGEM Competition experience that is not part of a 2024 iGEM Team in any capability (PI, advisor, instructor, member)

■Applicant must be enrolled in or have concluded a undergraduate school programme

What to expect from the experience?

■Work and connect with an international team

■Get support from iGEM and our community to realize your ideas

■Gain leadership experience for your own career

■Travel support to visit universities and other events that directly help with the team recruitment

■Participation Certificate at the end of the year

招聘過程

Project Heads Goals

In iGEM Community we work to provide tools and resources that will help you create projects that are beneficial for iGEMers. With our topics, we seek to represent the different career paths followed within our community, and aim to generate opportunities focused in three main goals:

Discover and curate the resources which are produced by and benefit iGEMers

iGEM teams have produced a number of resources over the years and many have the potential to be showcased under our different topics. From manuals and introduction videos, to translated libraries of contents, we hope projects in iGEM Community can re-discover these materials and give them a new spotlight.

Connect individuals and promote networking around the different areas of interest

Our community is diverse, and you will find a number of different career paths followed by iGEMers. We aim so that iGEM Community can help flourish interest in different areas, also encouraging new career discoveries, all by fostering networking opportunities and other engaging projects.

Develop projects and initiatives geared towards specialized areas related to synbio

Beyond different career-oriented topics, synthetic biology can also be present and intersect with many new and exciting fields. Our iGEM Community has the potential to bring these areas forward with new projects, engaging our community to lead the growth and future of synbio.

Position & Details

Project Headsare expected to be leaders of the specific projects under different topics and the main contact point for any matters.

Expectations & Responsibilities

■Organize and attend meetings, and other working sessions when necessary

■Act as the main point of contact and update the project progress regularly

■Check on the team members and follow-up on their tasks

■Frequent checking and regular communication on Slack and/or email

■ Assure the project progresses as planned, meeting important deadlines

■Submit reflective documents at the end of the project

■Estimated time commitment: 5 - 10 hours/week (flexible working hours)

Who Can Apply?

■Any iGEMer (previous Competition participants, judges, Committee members, Community volunteers) that is not a 2024iGEM Competition student member

■Relevant previous work under the topic of interest will be a plus
