當ChatGPT遇到托福考官

老師繼上次拿了一篇ChatGPT寫(xie) 的AP語言與(yu) 寫(xie) 作的作文給到考官批改之後,老師覺得這件事情很好玩。我又拿了托福的一個(ge) 作文題目給到機器人(這裏要感謝我美國的學生Aaron幫我提交給機器人),然後我將這篇作文交給現任托福寫(xie) 作考官進行判分。結果會(hui) 怎樣呢?這對我們(men) 理解機器人的能力有什麽(me) 啟發呢?

作文的題目是:Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Because the world today is just so busy and crowded, we should not expect people to be polite to one another.

機器人的作品

The idea that the fast-paced and overpopulated world of today excuses individuals from exhibiting politeness towards each other is a flawed notion. Politeness and good manners are integral elements of society that should be maintained even in the face of hectic and demanding circumstances.

In today's fast-paced and overpopulated world, politeness and good manners are more crucial than ever in creating a harmonious and calming atmosphere and in fostering strong relationships between individuals. For example, in a congested city, where individuals are in a constant state of urgency and competing for limited resources, a simple act of holding a door open for someone or allowing them to go ahead in line can significantly reduce stress levels and tensions.

Additionally, good manners and polite behavior play a vital role in professional settings, where they help to establish positive images and strong relationships with colleagues and clients. In a fast-paced work environment, politeness can help to prevent misunderstandings and conflicts that can have damaging effects on professional and personal life.

It is important to note that politeness and good manners are not just limited to face-to-face interactions. In a world where electronic communication dominates, it is equally crucial to exhibit polite behavior through electronic media, such as email and social media. A simple "thank you" or "please" in an electronic message can go a long way in maintaining a polite and respectful tone in our digital interactions.

In conclusion, the fast-paced and overpopulated world should not serve as a justification for individuals to abandon politeness and good manners. Instead, politeness and good manners should be upheld and encouraged, as they play a crucial role in creating a harmonious and peaceful society, fostering strong relationships, and enhancing professional and personal life. The demonstration of polite behavior, regardless of the circumstances, should always be a priority for individuals who wish to maintain a harmonious and respectful society.

1. Addresses the topic and task well, though some points may not be fully elaborated (能夠很好的答題,盡管有些要點沒有充分展開)。這裏重點要關(guan) 注第二段和第三段。

2. Is generally well organized and well developed, using appropriate and sufficient explanations, exemplifications and/or details. (整體(ti) 上能夠很好的組織展開,使用恰當充分的解釋舉(ju) 例以及或者細節)。這裏明顯沒有達到五分的標準。

3. Displays unity, progression and coherence, though it may contain occasional redundancy, digression, or unclear connections.(展現出統一、連續以及連貫,但是會(hui) 有偶爾的冗餘(yu) 、跑題或者不清晰的連接)。這裏應該是機器人為(wei) 了能夠達到一些形式或者結構的美,而忽視了內(nei) 容的連貫。

考官給出的整體(ti) 反饋評價(jia) :

1. A strong, error-free essay with good sentence variety and complexity. However, there is a sense of under-development, particularly with paragraph 3. (功底很好,句子的多樣性和複雜度很高,沒有語法錯誤。然而,整體(ti) 上展開不充分,尤其是第三段。)這個(ge) 達不到ETS的要求。

2. Redundancy in the form of repeated words and phrases gives the feel of using filler material. (重複使用詞匯給人感覺在使用填充材料)也就是感覺像在湊數一樣。

考官對於(yu) 其他一些小的細節也給出了評價(jia) 。

我們(men) 現在可以分析一下這篇文章和之前AP語言與(yu) 寫(xie) 作那篇文章上麵機器人表現的差異。之前那篇AP文章滿分六分,機器人得了兩(liang) 分。今天這一篇,最高分五分機器人得了四分。也就是說,機器人在托福作文的表現明顯優(you) 於(yu) 它在AP語言與(yu) 寫(xie) 作的表現。原因在哪裏?

1. 寫(xie) 作要求不一樣。之前那一篇是分析性文章,要求對一篇文章進行分析,今天這一篇純粹是論述型文章。也就是說機器人在分析方麵還是不如單一的說理。

2. AP語言與(yu) 寫(xie) 作的分析性文章更多需要共情(empathy),而托福的寫(xie) 作更多是邏輯。

以上這兩(liang) 點符合目前大家主流的觀點:機器人在深層次的思想以及分析方麵還是有待提高的,這其實也是它和人的主要區別。

3. 機器人的優(you) 勢在那裏呢?語法句法不會(hui) 有問題,因為(wei) 這些是算出來的。

4. 機器人在做題方麵的劣勢呢?它對於(yu) 出題的要求的精確理解是有問題的,也就是DEGREE程度的問題。例如它有展開的概念,但是展開到何種程度才是足夠、充分,它就需要繼續學習(xi) 了。但是,ChatGPT據說是有學習(xi) 能力的,如果我們(men) 喂給它充分的滿分作文,它應該可以學會(hui) 的。

對我們(men) 的啟發在哪裏呢?對孩子們(men) 的啟發是什麽(me) 呢?對老師的啟發是什麽(me) 呢?“危”和“機”分別是什麽(me) ?
