機構 2023 暑期繼續推出眾(zhong) 多學員慕名而來參加的作家老師 Ms. Kari 的 創意寫(xie) 作課程。

三年級至八年級的創意寫(xie) 作的五個(ge) 級別的課程，包括從(cong) 創意寫(xie) 作入門，到獨立撰寫(xie) 完整的短篇故事，再到有效地參加 Writers Workshop，到如何運用各種文學手法（Literary Devices）來為(wei) 作品增色，再到最後的如何投稿出版自己的作品。通過五個(ge) 進階課程的學習(xi) ，孩子循序漸進紮紮實實地提高寫(xie) 作水平。具體(ti) 為(wei) 以下五門課程：

G3-4 Creative Writing: Introduction to Fiction

小說主要故事元素的入門學習(xi) ，極大地激發學生們(men) 的創意寫(xie) 作興(xing) 趣。

G3-4 / G4-5 Creative Writing: Writing through Novel Study - James and the Giant Peach, Holes, Wonder, Anne of Green Gables

以作家的方式去閱讀（Reading like a writer），將小說作為(wei) 範文（Mentor Text），創作出自己的優(you) 秀小說作品。

G5-6 Creative Writing:Writers Workshop

通過作家研討會(hui) 的形式，根據別人的修改意見不斷修改小說作品；並給別人的作品提出修改建議，從(cong) 而學會(hui) 以更思辨的方式來看自己的作品。

G5-6 Creative Writing:Literary Devices in Fiction and Poetry

通過學習(xi) 各種文學手法技巧來為(wei) 作品錦上添花。每一節課都會(hui) 將具體(ti) 的文學手法（Literary Devices）和一種寫(xie) 作風格（Writing Styles）進行配對學習(xi) 。

G6-8 Advanced Creative Writing:Publishing a Short Story

這是一門給熱愛寫(xie) 作的學生設計的以出版為(wei) 目的的課程。作家老師將一步步地教學生從(cong) 哪些方麵來修改完善自己的作品，如何找到適合自己作品投稿的出版刊物，甚至會(hui) 教如何寫(xie) 給編輯部的 cover letter，如何回複編輯部的信件。課堂上通過閱讀分析同齡人出版的故事，學習(xi) 為(wei) 什麽(me) 這些作品能得以出版，我們(men) 能從(cong) 中學到什麽(me) ，並運用到自己的作品中來。課堂結束後學生將給三個(ge) 出版刊物投稿。

機構 創意寫(xie) 作係列課程中最受歡迎的一門課就是通過小說精讀來學習(xi) 創意寫(xie) 作 - Writing Through Novel Study。該課程設計之初的想法是：讀書(shu) 的輸入到底如何才能體(ti) 現到寫(xie) 作的輸出上來？經常困惑家長的問題就是閱讀（輸入）和寫(xie) 作（輸出）的不對等。我們(men) 的設計團隊給家長們(men) 推薦過一本非常有啟發性的書(shu) - Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose。讀完後令人豁然開朗，這就是真正應該如何讀書(shu) 的方式 - Reading Like a Writer 以作家的方式去閱讀！

基於(yu) 這個(ge) 理念，Writing Through Novel Study 課程既不是一個(ge) 單純的精讀課，也不是一門隻講解教授寫(xie) 作技巧的課程。在這門課程中，我們(men) 的作家老師將帶領學生們(men) 以作家的方式，深入研究經典兒(er) 童文學，真正學習(xi) 如何 Read Like a Writer，具體(ti) 學習(xi) 小說中各種創作手法的使用方式，譬如：語言，背景，角色發展，對話，觀點，象征主義(yi) ，和情節等等。學生們(men) 將這本小說作為(wei) 一個(ge) 範文（Mentor Text）來學習(xi) 創意寫(xie) 作的方法和技巧，並在自己的創作中模仿運用，最終創作出自己的短篇小說！

2022 暑期機構首次推出G34的Writing through Novel Study。選用的正是被稱為(wei) 講故事第一人的 Roald Dahl 的特別適合三四年級閱讀的經典小說 - James and the Giant Peach! 這不僅(jin) 僅(jin) 是一部膾炙人口的經典文學作品，也是一部經常被搬上舞台表演的故事，譬如，在一些頂尖私校的英語和戲劇學習(xi) 中。

本課程將專(zhuan) 注於(yu) 研究故事中的情節和人物是如何相互聯係的。在這堂課中，我們(men) 將閱讀 Roald Dahl 的經典故事 James and the Giant Peach，並研究故事人物如何因情節中的事件而改變、學習(xi) 和成長。這包括勇氣、友誼、勇敢、孤獨和成長過程等主題。

G34 Writng through Novel Study

James and the Giant Peach

The James and the Giant Peach novel study course will focus on studying how plot and character are connected to one another in stories. In this class, we will be reading Roald Dahl’s story James and the Giant Peach and examining how the character changes, learns, and grows because of the events in the plot. This includes themes of courage, friendship, bravery, loneliness, and the process of growing up.

The students will also be expected to write their own stories during this course. We will be building characters with weaknesses or lessons they need to learn and thinking about how the events of the story (plot) can cause the character to change and grow. We will focus on connecting our plot and our characters in order to bring deeper meaning to our work. We will also focus on other elements of storytelling, such as setting, dialogue, and theme.
