AP United States Government and Politics

This course is designed for students who are currently enrolled in an AP U.S. Government & Politics course, and/or are planning to take the AP U.S. Government & Politics Exam this spring. The course will include a review of the major topics and themes, as well as test-taking strategies for the AP exam in May, including primary source analysis and document-based essay writing. Students will leave this course better prepared to earn a 5 on their AP U.S. Government & Politics exam.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Identify and explain historical concepts and their development

Apply knowledge of biases, point-of-view, purpose, and audience to key primary documents

Compare arguments in historical documents and explain broader contexts

Identify and explain patterns between historical development and processes

Make a historical claim, support using documents, and then refute argument
