The term "糖" has become a popular internet slang among teenagers, initially used to describe someone as "silly" or "dumb." It gradually spread from online to offline, becoming a common teasing phrase among peers. However, many teenagers don't realize that "糖" actually originates from a term for individuals with Down syndrome. When they use it, they are often unaware of the hurtful implications and the potential harm it can cause to this group.

In this era of increasing diversity and inclusion, supporting special groups has become an essential lesson for teenagers. In early November last year, the Spark charity club at Dipont KCS Chengdu raised awareness about Down syndrome during the flag-raising ceremony. On November 8, they hosted a charity donation event themed "Caring for Children with Down Syndrome" at the school restaurant entrance. The event received enthusiastic support from students and staff, with all proceeds donated to the Chengdu Down Syndrome Mutual Aid Association and Morning Star Home to support individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

This charity event was not only a philanthropic action but also an education on love. Through direct participation, students deeply experienced the power of charity and the joy of helping others. The event emphasized that care and support are the foundation of a harmonious society. As students of Dipont KCS Chengdu, we are committed to creating an equal, respectful, and inclusive learning community. This event provided a valuable opportunity for students to better understand and embrace special groups.

In December last year, the Spark club organized a larger-scale charity sale during the winter concert, attracting enthusiastic participation from many students and parents. This event not only provided more support for individuals with Down syndrome but also strengthened the students' commitment to philanthropy.

This charity event is just the beginning. In the future, students at Dipont KCS Chengdu will continue to engage in more philanthropic projects, supporting various groups in need. We will not only focus on the challenges faced by individuals with Down syndrome but also broaden our vision to include other vulnerable groups, spreading positive energy and striving to become compassionate, responsible global citizens.

It is worth mentioning that in 2011, the United Nations General Assembly officially designated March 21 as "World Down Syndrome Day," aiming to raise public awareness about Down syndrome and promote inclusion, care, and support for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. "Tangbao" (Down syndrome children) have unique genetic codes, and while their world may be different from ours, they too long for understanding, acceptance, and love. Their innocent smiles, sincere emotions, and love for life all shine with a special brilliance.

Let us begin by caring for individuals with Down syndrome and contribute to building a more inclusive and harmonious society. Through each philanthropic action, we are not only helping others but also growing ourselves. Let us join hands, spread warmth through our actions, light up hope with our love, and work together to create a better world.
